The Irish Association for CranioSacral Therapy (I.A.C.S.T.) was created from the desire to promote the highest standards of
CranioSacral practice and to foster a National CranioSacral community, representative of all branches of CranioSacral Therapy.
It is open to anyone who has done a CranioSacral workshop in the presence of a suitably qualified Upledger, Karuna or Athley
CranioSacral lecturer.
The idea for a CranioSacral Association was conceived in 2003. Many people within the CranioSacral community felt the need to
create an instrument where all those who practise CranioSacral Therapy (C.S.T.) in Ireland, could be represented by an Irish
Association. It was felt that a single National Association of Irish Practitioners would allow us to promote CranioSacral
Therapy with one voice, and has enabled us to become official members of F.I.C.T.A. - The Federation of Irish Complementary
Practitioners.
F.I.C.T.A.'s mandate is to represent all the various schools of Complementary and Alternative Medicine in Ireland to the
National Working Group (headed by Teri Garvey). In turn, the N.W.G. report into the Minister for Health and the Department of
Health, in an ongoing effort to hasten the formal recognition of all branches of Complementary and Alternative Medicine.
A National CranioSacral gathering took place in Athlone in 2003. At this meeting a volunteer committee was formed.
They worked for several months to create a constitution and framework for I.A.C.S.T.
The collective input from the meeting in Athlone provided the skeletal structure for the work that followed.
In March 2003, I.A.C.S.T. was officially formed at the first AGM held in Athone. The Association has
achieved a lot despite its young life. We have succeeded in getting reduced insurance premiums for our members. A practitioner
referral list, an annual social gathering and this web site are testament to our commitment to serve our members.
We are delighted that the original dream held by members in the Irish CranioSacral community for a national Irish Association
has been realized.
